Francisca Gurrola, Hacia Intern

Francisca Gurrola Aguilar was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. An Albuquerque High School graduate and first-generation college student at the University of New Mexico, Francisca is currently in her fourth-year majoring in Secondary Education and working on obtaining her endorsements in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Bilingual Education.

Francisca participated in Hacia: Toward the University throughout high school, and now works as an intern for the program. As the daughter of Mexican immigrants, she understands the struggles of students and their families as they navigate the education system, and she recognizes the resilience and strength families demonstrate every day. Francisca is determined to continue supporting students and families to reach their goals for higher education and family empowerment.
